Tim Burton’s movie, Alice in Wonderland will run into trouble. Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway as the main characters and Helena Carter becomes the supporting actress. The world premiere for this movie is London and opens in Britain and the United States on 5th March.
Odeon is one of the largest Europe cinema chains. There are 110 Odeon and UCI-branded theatres in all over Britain. This problem comes to surface because Odeon had spent lot of money in making the digital 3D projection for this film and shorter windows to display the movie will suffer a financial loss for Odeon. According to Odeon, Walt Disney agreed to give 17 weeks but in fact Disney only gives 12 weeks for the movie. Odeon will not show this movie. This is happen because of the disagreement between Odeon and Walt Disney about the timing of the film’s DVD release. In the other hand, many chains in Europe, such as Spain, Portugal, Germany and several other countries will show Alice in Wonderland on time because there is a enough time between DVD and theatrical release that is 17 weeks.
Walt Disney reason in shorting the time is to fight and reduce piracy. Disney also promises that this plan of shorting the time of publishing is not for all Disney movies.
