Katie Pieper, a British model, suffered horribly from some burns in her neck, face and hands in 2008 soon after a hit man who was paid by her own boyfriend threw acid on her beautiful face. She underwent 31 surgeries at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The surgeries were done by Dr. Mohammed Jawad in which he tried to reconstruct her face by using Matriderm, an artificial skin matrix.
The action happened in March 2008 in a London street. Katie Pieper said that the pain was terribly bad because of what the man had thrown at her. She thought that she must have looked like a huge orange fireball as it was very painful. She added that she remembered how hits of her face were coming off and away. Her clothes were evaporating and she was in huge panicked. People were scared as she banged on the shops’ windows.
Luckily, the securities cameras had caught the incident. The police then studied her case and they found out that the incident was started by her own boyfriend, Danny Lynch, who was a martial arts supporter. He hired a hit man to throw that acid to her face. Katie Pieper said that her life has changed completely after the incident where she lost her pretty face.
