The mayor of Coppell, Texas, Jayne Peters, was found dead at her home in suburban in Dallas on Tuesday evening. Peters was found dead along with her 19-year-old daughter, Corinne Peters. The investigators said that it might be a murder-suicide case. The police was sent to Peters’ home after she did not appear at the City Council meeting on the regular schedule. The police arrived in her home at about 7.45 a.m. and found Peters and her daughter’s bodies. Both of them suffered from gunshot sounds on their heads.
Sharon Logan, the spokeswoman of the city, mentioned that there were no any signs of forced entry. Meanwhile, the investigators believe that Jayne Peters killed her daughter first before she turned the gun and shot herself. Steve Thomas, the chief of Deputy Police, said that there were no details yet about the case since they did not have complete information and facts.
Jayne Peters was a software developer and she was chosen to be a mayor of Coppell in May 2009. She had been a Council member since 1998. Meanwhile, Coriine Peters, her daughter, had just graduated from Coppell High School in May. Peters’ husband died in 2008 from cancer. She lived alone in her two-storey house with her daughter.
